Paramount Plus released the trailer for the upcoming, live-action Halo series and fans are somewhat divided over some of the creative liberties taken by the studio -- specifically changes made to the timeline of the original Halo canon, an emphasis on a human antagonist and, most of all, a Cortana redesign that has fans feeling blue.

Twitter has been especially uproarious about the new Cortana. It wouldn't be surprising if the bold choice to alter the longstanding character design to make Cortana appear more human and less like a hologram may have been an intentional invitation to meme-dom, with many studios seeing the marketing success that a little bit of meme fodder can bring.
